How the Terra Luna collapse and Do Kwon fraud case unfolded

The TerraUSD stablecoin and its sister token Luna collapsed in May 2022, with losses prosecutors put at more than $40 billion. Terraform Labs founder Do Kwon was found liable in an SEC civil case, arrested in Montenegro and extradited to the United States after a long fight between US and South Korean requests. He pleaded guilty to two fraud counts in 2025 and was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
